Rick's Favourite Golf Courses:
Arcadian Shores is a nice course and one of my favourites. A Rees Jones designed course with tree lined fairways and some really difficult bunker placements protecting the greens. It was also home to 3 gators when I played it, so stay out of the water hazards!! About a 30 minute drive from Oceanside Village.
Blackmoor is a truly picturesque course and a real challenge designed by Gary Player. The course was in immaculate condition even in the middle of March. About a 15 minute drive from Oceanside Village.
International Club is one of the most beautiful courses I have played in Myrtle Beach (It probably helped that I shot one of my best scores ever!!). The course is well-kept and challenging with friendly staff. Well worth the visit and only 10 minutes from Oceanside Village.
I think True Blue Plantation may be my favourite course in the area. It is located near Pawley's Island. Most holes have generous landing areas off the tees, but the approach shots to the greens are challenging. Every hole seems to belong on a postcard - stunningly landscaped. Ranked one of the top 100 public courses in America by Golf Digest. About a 20 minute drive from Oceanside Village.
Tupelo Bay Lighted Par 3 Golf. Right across the street from Oceanside Village. There is a 9-hole par 3 course at the front, and an 18-hole par 4 in the back. Both are lit for night-time golf. If you haven't done it before, it is worth a try!! A recent addition is a Disc Golf course on the 9-hole par 3 course.
The Wicked Stick is a John Daly designed course that is reminiscent of a British links style course. About 15 minutes from Oceanside Village.
The Witch, The Wizard and Man O'War are three sister courses that are a real challenge - but beautiful to play. Lots of water and plenty of interesting holes. Often they have a deal where you can buy a three round combination for a discounted rate. They are around 20 to 30 minutes from Oceanside Village.
If you are an avid golfer, World Tour Golf is an opportunity not to be passed up. Every hole on this course is a replica of a famous hole from somewhere in the world. Ever wanted to try your hand at playing Amen Corner in Augusta, Alcatraz from TPC at Sawgrass, the "Blue Monster" at Doral or the 18th at St. Andrews? This is your chance. The only way I can describe the experience? Spectacular!! About 25 minutes from Oceanside Village.
